When thinking about a family Christmas one thing always pops into my mind. A Christmas jumper. Yes that’s right, I’m talking about the tacky jumper that your dad parades around in just to see you melt with embarrassment.
I can barely contain my excitement but they seem to have become fashionable this year. FINALLY! Comical knitted jumpers that were once seen as cheap and tacky are now the first point of call on peoples Christmas ‘to buy’ list.
I saw my first Christmas jumper way back in September and let out a little shriek of excitement. Even I must admit that September is far too early for any indication that the big C was on its way. Since then the high street has been bombarded, think of an item of clothing and I guarantee you will find it smothered in Christmassy goodness this year. There are a massive range of products available on the high street that cater to every budget, taste and style.
Jumper: Urban Outfitters £50
Jumper: Boohoo £20
Jumper: Primark £12
My Christmas ensemble has become a bit of talking point within my family, everyone’s guessing what I will be wearing next. It’s become a bit of a tradition I suppose. I like to have a wide range of festive clothes to choose from so I usually head straight to my faithful favourite shop. Where is that I hear you ask? Well… if you were to ask any of my friends they will tell you how much of a big fan I am of Primark. I LOVE it. For someone who is constantly developing my own personal style and loves to keep on top of the trends, Primark is an amazing place to shop. Affordable and on trend… what’s not to like?
Here are a couple items from my extensive festive wardrobe.
Santa Jumper: Men’s Primark £12
Reindeer Jumper: Primark £12
Traditional Snowflake Cardigan: Lauren by Ralph Lauren £80
Large Earrings: Primark £1 a pair
Small Earrings: Primark £2 – 6 pairs in a set
Christmas jumpers are everywhere this year, they have finally shaken off that ‘uncool’ reputation. I think the major turning point was the release of the 2001 film Bridget Jone’s Diary. We all remember Mark Darcy in that hideous reindeer jumper but somehow he pulled it off. I’m sure most women would openly admit to having a soft spot of Mr Darcy. Love them or hate them, it is very clear that the Christmas jumper is well and truly here to stay.
If Christmas isn’t the time to take the mick out of yourself then when is?
