Waking up this morning feeling the chill in the air, my first thought is to crawl back under my duvet and hibernate for winter. This bleak weather deflates my energy to even lure myself out of bed, let alone have any sort of gumption to think about dressing with style. Time to scramble and scrutinise the innumerable chunky knits stashed at the back of my wardrobe and fish out my staple beanie with the generic fluffy pompom.
It’s become a biannual ritual for me to attend London Fashion Weekend and take inspiration on how to spice up my seasonal attire.
With a luxe pass draped round my neck and a glass of champagne in hand I was all set and ready to go.
Stupidly in hast I did not get a full length photo of myself in my outfit. Fashion blogger 101 and I forgot. OOPS – Here’s a quick snap… AW is all about opulence with the addition of textured fabrics and warmth so as soon as I saw this little velvet designer number I was sold. We all know that I love a Aline dress but layered with a classic t-shirt and a cute knot it gives the look a casual day feel as well as the addition of a pop of colour. Admiring the trend catwalk after spending some time in the Luxe Lounge three main trends stood out for the upcoming season.
VELVET, FLORALS & LACE
It’s no secret that tones begin to darken and fabrics become denser in the colder months. With the usual gothic tones all over the catwalks you need to combine them with a touch of subtle femininity and top them off with a glimpse of skin. The ultimate fabric that always rules any AW runway is of course velvet. Whether you choose to dress head to toe or just add a touch of this sumptuous fabric you cannot go wrong. Last season’s big geometric look continues to add colour and excitement to winter. Combine this key trend to classic sultry lace to create an unexpected twist with a punch of attitude. The easiest trend to be able to carry over from last season is florals, take the romance of summer and combine with the dramatic demeanour of winter and you will be able to take any piece from day to night.

Picking up my limited addition designer tote bag and strolling around the pop up shops in the cultivating Saatchi Gallery my mind begins to explode with stimulation. Surrounded by like minded creatives and designer goodies I couldn’t wait to start collecting key pieces to build my winter wardrobe.
Time to shop and apologise to my bank balance.
